Code of Conduct

Our code of conduct is a set of rules outlining the social norms and believes and responsibilities of, or proper practices

All attendees, speakers, sponsors and volunteers at our hackberg trip are required to agree with the following code of conduct. We will enforce this code throughout our event. We are expecting cooperation from all participants to help ensuring a safe environment for everybody.

Need Help?

We have a dedicated person that takes care of your safety. If you experience harassment or other Code of Conduct violations, , please contact the care team consisting of Jan Kus (@koos or jan@railslove.com).

How to get help

Talk to us in person. Write a Twitter direct message to: railslove (@railslove) or Jan Kus (@koos) (DMs are open). Write an email to the care team e-mail address (jan@railslove.com). Give us a phone call (+49 1791353539) or send an SMS.

The Quick Version

Our event are dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment of our event participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any event venue, including talks, workshops, parties, Twitter and other online media. Event participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference without a refund at the discretion of the conference organisers.

The Less Quick Version

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, technology choices, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. Sponsors are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, sponsors should not use sexualised images, activities, or other material. Booth staff (including volunteers) should not use sexualised clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualised environment. If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the event organisers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the conference with no refund. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact our staff immediately.

Harrassment in social media

In case of feeling offended or harrassed by an attendee or speaker, please don’t let a social media harrassment happen. We would like to create a safe space for everyone and a tweetstorm or something similar is not an option to make someone feel safe. We are all humans, we all make mistakes. It would be great if you reach out to a staff member, send a private Twitter message @railslove or just give us a call to the above mentioned phone if you don’t feel comfortable to talk to one of us in person. Conference staff will be happy to help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event. We value your attendance. We expect participants to follow these rules at our events and workshop venues and event-related social events.
